COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
SLOTTING TOOL, COMMUTATOR, HAND; AND
SLOTTER AND SCRAPER, COMMUTATOR HAND
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description in preference to MIL-S-17709.
1. CLASSIFICATION
1.1 Scope. This commercial item description covers hand tools for use in slotting and scraping slots in commutators of electric motors and generators.
1.2 Classification. The slotting tools shall be in the following types as specified (see 5.2):
Type D- Slotting tool
Type E- Slotter and scraper tool
1.3 CID based part identification number (PIN). A document based PIN to identify type letters is included in section 5. This identification numbering procedure is for Government purposes and does not constitute a requirement for the contractor.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Design. The slotting tool and the slotter and scraper tool shall be the manufacturer’s standard product design, except for any changes necessary to comply with this description.
