COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
FRAME, JEWELERS’ SAW (ADJUSTABLE LENGTH)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification GGG-F-671.
This commercial item description covers jewelers’ saw frames used for very light duty in cutting precious and common metals by jewelers and instrument makers. Frames furnished shall be without blades.
Salient characteristics:
Material.
(a) Medium throat style frame shall be steel or other suitable material capable of withstanding a 6-ft drop on concrete.
(b) Deep throat style frame shall be steel.
(c) Handles shall be plastic or seasoned hardwood (lacquered or suitably painted).
Frame finish.
(a) Medium throat shall have zinc chromate or plating.
(b) Deep throat requires no plating or coating; a polished finish is acceptable. Contraction due to tension: 1/2 inch maximum permitted.
Design. Adjustable length jewelers’ saw frames conforming to table I and similar to Figures 1 or 2.
